After years of working behind the scenes designing for others, staying intentionally unseen I reached a moment of truth. I could no longer separate the work from the woman. dref was always personal, but private. It began as dref.by.d, a quiet expression of my design values: structure, texture, movement.

But life changes you.

Through healing, loss, and deep personal growth especially after the passing of my father I found myself re-evaluating everything. I no longer wanted to stay hidden. I wanted to be seen, fully. To create from a place of power, not protection.

dref.official is the evolution of that decision.

This brand is built on intention. On clarity. On the belief that clothing should express who we are without saying a word. Each collection reflects lived experienced designed with precision, purpose, and quiet confidence.

We don’t follow trends. We honour women’s lives through refined form, fluid movement, and timeless strength. We’re not just dressing a body. We’re supporting a story.

About Tania Hanna

Founder & Creative Director, dref.official

Tania Hanna is the founder and creative force behind dref.official a brand born from experience, designed with intention, and rooted in personal evolution.

With a career in fashion spanning over three decades, Tania has worked quietly behind the scenes, designing for leading labels both in Australia and internationally. Her expertise in design, manufacturing, and brand development has made her a trusted partner to fashion houses, emerging designers, and global factories alike.

Tania’s journey began in the late 1980s, following her graduation in fashion design. From iconic campaigns to founding her first label Matana known for bold, one-of-a-kind couture she quickly made her mark. She later co-founded Recur, a wholesale brand that grew into a national business with retail stores and overseas production hubs, building deep ties with manufacturers in Hong Kong and China that continue to this day.

In 2000, she launched DZYNA, a full-service design and production studio created to meet rising demand for her expertise. Over the years, DZYNA became a quiet powerhouse, producing collections for countless Australian brands while incubating her own.

dref.official is the most personal of them all. Originally launched as dref.by.d, the brand was a way to create without stepping forward. But after years of growth, healing, and reflection, Tania returned to the brand with new energy and clarity ready to show up fully as a designer and founder.

Today, dref.official reflects that evolution. Every piece is designed with refined strength, architectural form, and timeless quality made to move with modern women as they lead, create, and become.

All garments are designed in our Melbourne studio, where ideas are shaped with precision and a deep respect for craftsmanship. For over 20 years, founder Tania Hanna has nurtured trusted partnerships with skilled makers across Asia, built on transparency, loyalty, and shared values.

These long-standing relationships allow us to uphold the highest standards not only in design, fit, and fabrication, but in how our garments are made. We work with mills and factories that share our commitment to responsible practices, using traceable fibres and certified ethical processes wherever possible.

We don’t believe in shortcuts. We believe in evolution — in building better systems, fostering fair work environments, and continually improving the way we create.
